ScS Information

Every summer since 2003 XLAB offers International Science Camps. The number of applicants is increasing from year to year. XLAB Science School is broadening XLAB's successful international science program with a significantly different concept for university students and high school graduates age about 18 to 25 years.  

Students select one of three parallel courses. In January 2012 XLAB offers: Plant ecophysiology, Molecular Genetics or Neurobiology . In the first week there is an introductory course in theory and experimental methods. In the second week students do their own experimental projects. The students work in small groups of two or three. Courses are supervised by scientists of the XLAB, University of Göttingen and affiliated research organizations.

Monday January 9^th to Friday January 20^th 2012
The XLAB Science School lasts for 2 weeks. Arrival day is Sunday (January 8^th), Departure day is Saturday (January 21^st).

Goettingen is located in the southern part of Lower Saxony, in the center of Germany and Europe. Göttingen is well known for its University and the research institutes of Max Planck Society. The XLAB is situated on the science campus of the Georg August University of Göttingen. All of the university laboratories and affiliated institutes, as well as the university canteen are within a few minutes walking distance.

The participants will stay at Hotel Beckmann.

English is the unique language in scientific communities worldwide. Participants must be fluent in written and spoken English!
We reserve the right for English testing by interview.

The costs for the Science School is 1400 € including tuition fee, accommodation, meals and an excursion on the weekend.

Students from all over the world, aged 18 to 25, are invited to participate. For first contact it is required that students fill in our web form. For complete application we ask for curriculum vitae in tabular form including a photo and an informal letter of recommendation  by scientific  advisers.

Deadline for application: November 30^th 2011

After receiving the complete application XLAB will apply for a scholarship.
